 In a church, the golden light hits a figure’s wing scars. Their rosary sways from one hand, as sounds of leather against skin rings throughout the air. As they reach the altar on their knees, their hands come together in lieu of prayer. They find themselves transported to a place where they share food offerings and intimate touches with another being.Aking Senakulo explores themes of queerness, isolation, belonging, and indigenous Filipino ancestry. |

 Jela Dela Peña is a trans non-binary Filipino immigrant residing in Tiohtià:ke / Montreal. he started filmmaking shortly after moving to Canada in 2015. Dela Peña has been involved in organizing art exhibits like the BIPOC Film Fest in 2021 and an asian heritage month exhibit, In Visible Stories in 2022. In 2022, he was also a part of the Golden Rule exhibit that commemorated the Philippines and its survivors after 50 years since the martial law. |
