Hot Seat

When two young siblings are accused of theft by a convenience store owner through the CCTV footage, they are thrust into a challenging situation that unravels their family’s deep-seated trauma, forcing them to confront their past and find a way to heal.

Johmar Damiles, a multimedia specialist based in Manila, is a graduate of AB Communication Arts from the University of Santo Tomas. He is highly dedicated in the fields of filmmaking, video production, photography, publication, and advertising. He aims to tell stories through various media where he can learn and utilize his skills, and actively collaborate with people in the same industry.He is the Director of Photography, and co-writer of Heist School, a Cinemalaya 2019 Shorts entry, which won the Audience Choice Award, and has been exhibited in various local and international film festivals. He also directed a travel and business online series, Highway Harvest, for iWantTFC. The 6th Sinekabataan Short Film Festival, organized by FDCP, funds his most recent short film, “Hot Seat,” where he serves as the director, co-writer, and editor. Recently, he is awarded the 4th Lagerway Awards for Communication Excellence, Special Citation on pursuing Children’s Rights for Hot Seat. Also, He is a co-founder of Gate 11 Collective, a collective of like-minded young filmmakers who engage in filmmaking while balancing their regular jobs.Beyond his involvement in filmmaking, he works in the digital marketing industry, taking on roles as a motion graphics designer and video editor.
