The Blossoming of the Country Maiden

Directed by Caloy Soliongco

Jose Nepomuceno dreams of making the first Filipino Feature Film. His first day on set is marred with many mishaps, making him question his hopes and dreams of becoming the First Filipino Filmmaker. Atang de la Rama, who at the time of filming is already a star in her own right, becomes increasingly hard to work with as the shoot progresses. The members of the crew start to lose patience with the newbie mistakes of Nepomuceno. He must figure out how to get everyone on the same page, or otherwise throw the dream of making the First Filipino Film away, for good.

Caloy Soliongco is a TVC Director on weekdays, and independent filmmaker and video artist on weekends. His most recent short film, “Ang Pagdadalaga ng Dalagang Bukid” (The Blossoming of the Country Maiden), won the jury prize and best musical score at the 2021
