How to watch

Please read the following instructions on how to watch rentals for the San Diego Filipino Film Festival:

Important note: The newest iOS update which was just released (iOS 15) has issues playing DRM protected videos. This is a bug in iOS, affecting all DRM encrypted videos played in a web browser. Please use an alternate device.

Test Your Browser

Click on the Streaming Test page to test your browser. If you are able to play the video on that page, then your browser is compatible for streaming.

Once you press play on a movie, you have 24 hours to finish watching it.

Can I watch content on my iPhone/iPad?

Yes, you can watch content using Safari on iOS 11.2 or later. Can I watch content on my Android Device?

Yes, you can watch content using Chrome on Android 6.0 or later.

Can I Chromecast content?

You can Chromecast from a Chrome web browser on PC and Mac computers as well as Android devices by selecting the cast button in the bottom right-hand side of the player.

Can I AirPlay to my AppleTV?

You can AirPlay from most browsers if you have Apple TV by selecting the AirPlay button in the bottom right-hand side of the player.

Why do I see a black screen if I am watching content with AirPlay on my TV?

You likely have “Screen Mirroring” turned on in your device settings. Please turn off the screen mirroring setting and start AirPlay by selecting the AirPlay button in the bottom right-hand side of the player.

Why do I see a black screen after the pre-roll if I am casting to Chromecast?

Some Chromecast versions cannot support transitions from one video to another. If this happens, turn off casting and restart it once the film starts playing.

Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?

We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback. If you’re on Wi-Fi, try moving closer to your router.

Can I stop and start watching again? 

Yes, as long as you remain in the same browser and stay within the 24 viewing allowance.

Why is a film no longer available?

Films are only available for a limited time and can only be viewed within the 7-day viewing window.

How do I adjust the volume on the video player?

To make volume controls visible, hover your cursor over the video player. Click on the sound icon and slide the volume bar to adjust the volume.

How do I view films in full screen?

Hover your cursor over the video player, then click on the full-screen icon (looks like a square) to make it full screen.

 

If you are having trouble playing your video:

  • Please confirm that you are not on a VPN (Virtual Private Network). The streaming platform’s content protection protocol does not allow VPN access.
  • When viewing on-demand content, please ensure that you have enabled third-party cookies in your internet browser.
  • Make sure you have auto-play videos enabled for this site. If you have turned off auto-play videos, or notice that when a new video loads, it does not automatically play, please enable auto-play for this site. Here are instructions for SafariFirefox, and Edge.
