Meet our panelists:

Irene Soriano Saxon is a Los Angeles–based film curator, festival programmer, and writer who programs short films for the Sundance Film Festival and has curated programs for Outfest Fusion QTBIPOC Film Festival, Echo Park Film Center, the Filipino American National Historical Society (FANHS), I See You Queer Filipinx Microcinema and Venice Beach Film. Through various initiatives, Irene uplifts Filipino filmmakers in the diaspora—advocating for their stories and helping to expand the platforms available for their work. At the heart of her organizing mission in the film space are the principles of community-building, collaboration, and support for the storytellers and projects she uplifts.
Michaelangelo Masangkay is a Toronto-based creative executive with over a decade of experience in film, media, and education. He is the Founder and President of Siné Institute, a non-profit supporting emerging filmmakers, and a Partner at Clever Creature, a production company specializing in immersive storytelling and 2D feature films—from development through to distribution. As Director of Production at Toronto Film School, he oversees curriculum and student filmmaking. Formerly General Manager at Raven Banner Entertainment, Michaelangelo has led global sales and festival strategy, consistently championing bold, culturally resonant stories and underrepresented voices in the creative industries.

Panel Moderator: Benito Bautista

Best known for his award-winning documentaries Harana: The Search for the Lost Art of Serenade and The Gift of Barong, Benito is an Emmy and Gawad Urian Awards recipient whose films explore social issues and the richness of the human experience.
