“Sonny” is a short documentary that details the difficult relationship between a second generation American and a Filipino immigrant. Following the unexpected death of his father Sonny, Rufio St. George spends a 16 hour journey to the Philippines reflecting on an estranged relationship in search of answers to understanding his father.

Rufio St. George was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Va. Growing up, Rufio gained multiple interests in the visual and performing arts, producing short youtube videos while also embracing musical theatre as a teenager. Graduating High School in 2011, he attended Tidewater Community College but shortly dropped out in pursuit of a career in Entertainment and moved to Las Vegas, NV.

For 10 years, he worked performing as dancer, stand up comedian, and variety performer for companies such as Sea World Parks, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Vegas the Show at Planet Hollywood on the Vegas Strip.

Rufio is currently pursuing a career in film and television. Producing, directing, and editing his own short films while also helping as a Behind the Scenes producer for the workplace comedy show “A List Casting”. He hopes to continue learning and embracing every opportunity in this new endeavor.
