Roots and Wings

Roots & Wings is a micro-doc series that highlights innovative, culture-bridging WOC chefs who use food as a conduit for cultural awareness and as a means of perpetuating their cultural traditions. This first episode features Filipino-American chef Yana Gilbuena and her crusade to bring Kamayan-style Filipino food to all 50 states.


GROUP BIO: Lisa Yadao, Michelle Sampior and Irene Yadao filmmakers at Paper Tongue Productions, whose aim as filmmakers is to raise visibility for women, especially women of color, and champion underrepresented perspectives in film and media. They are currently developing a number of projects, including a podcast about solo female travel, a documentary about twinship, and the rest of the Roots and Wings series.
